STOWRIG

Terms of use

Short version: it is free, it is an estimate rather than a guarantee, you are responsible for your own ride, and we do not own your trips.

This page is not finished

The company details and the governing law are still to be filled in, and until they are this is not a document to rely on. What it says about the product is accurate — what is collected, who it reaches, how long it is kept and how to get rid of it are all checkable against the code. What is missing is the paperwork around it.

Who you are agreeing with

These terms are between you and [controller — not yet supplied], of [address — not yet supplied] — referred to below as we and us. Using Stowrig means accepting them. If you do not, the remedy is simple and costs you nothing: stop using it.

What the product claims to do

Two things. It turns answers about a ride into the kit those answers make necessary, with every line naming the answer that produced it. And it turns a photograph of a bicycle frame into which of the bags we hold measurements for will fit it.

Both are free, and no account is required for either. An account exists only so your own things follow you to another device.

What it does not claim

The fit verdict is an estimate. You place the wheel and the frame corners yourself, on your own photograph, and that holds to roughly five millimetres — which is why anything inside that margin is reported as Tight rather than Fits, and why the limiting dimension is always named. Measure twice before spending money, and check the maker’s own figures before you buy.

The kit list is not safety advice. It is a ruleset reading answers you typed. It cannot see the forecast, your fitness, your bike, or the ground. It will not know that the river is up or that the shop closed last year. Judgement about whether a ride is safe to start is yours, and it stays yours.

The catalogue is small and stated. We check against the bags we have measured, which is not every bag that exists. A bag missing from a result has not been rejected — it has not been measured.

We do not sell anything. Following a link takes you to somebody else’s shop, on their terms, and any purchase is between you and them. Delivery, returns and faults are theirs to answer for.

Money, and where it comes from

Some outgoing links pay us a commission. Every one of them says so on the link, before you follow it. Ranking cannot see commission — what appears, and in what order, is decided by your answers and by measurements, and two of the brands that measure best pay us nothing at all and are recommended anyway.

That is a design constraint enforced by tests in the codebase, not a good intention. If it ever stops being true, this paragraph is wrong and we want to hear about it.

What we ask of you

Use it for planning your own rides. Do not attempt to break, overload or work around the limits on it; do not scrape it wholesale; do not upload anything you have no right to; do not use it to build a competing catalogue out of our measurements.

If you make an account, the security of it is yours to keep. Tell us if you think somebody else has it.

Who owns what

Your trips, frames and gear are yours. We do not claim ownership of anything you enter, and we hold it in order to show it back to you. You can take it or delete it whenever you like.

The rest is ours — the software, the ruleset, the wording, the mark, and the bag measurements, which took real work to produce and are the reason any of the verdicts mean anything.

Availability

It may be unavailable, and features may change or be removed. Nothing here is promised to exist next month. It is free, and there is no support commitment attached to it — where something is broken and you tell us, we will want to fix it, but that is an intention rather than an obligation you have bought.

Liability

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using it — including a bag that does not fit, kit that turned out to be wrong for the conditions, or a ride that went badly.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by any of this.

Ending it

Stop using it whenever you like; delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend access that is breaking these terms or damaging the service for other people. Deleting an account deletes what it holds — see what we collect for exactly what that means.

Changes

These terms change when the product does. The date below says when the current wording took effect. A change that materially reduces what you get will be said plainly rather than slipped in.

Law

These terms are governed by [governingLaw — not yet supplied]. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in.

This page

Written from what the product does, and every factual claim on it is checkable against the code — the tolerance, the commission rule, the size of the catalogue.

It has not been written or reviewed by a lawyer, and the liability and law sections are where that matters most: their wording decides whether they are enforceable at all, and that is precisely the judgement a non-lawyer cannot make. Have somebody qualified read this before relying on it.
